Comment: A pseudoaneurysm is defined as an aneurysm outside thetrue lumen of
the artery. False aneurysms fall into severalcategories: -Anastomotic aneurysms associated
with previousvascular surgery -Iatrogenic aneurysms following endovascularaccess are
related to sheath size and concomitant anticoagulation-Traumatic aneurysms -False
aneurysms associated with intravenousdrug abuse -Mycotic aneurysms All false
aneurysms requiretreatment, regardless of size. Iatrogenic femoral arterypseudoaneurysm
can be treated by US guided manual compression ofthe vascular channel linking the
aneurysm to theartery.
