Comment: The liver and adrenal glands are common sites ofmetastatic disease.
Description: The ultrasound reveals a hypoechoic mass in the liverwhich is
situated in proximity to the hepatic veins before theyjoin the inferior vena cava. The
Doppler confirms the patency ofthe veins and shows the lesion to be hypovascular. A
solidhypovascular mass of the left adrenal is also seeen. CT confirmsthese findings and
CT guided biopsy of the adrenal (not shown)confirms colonic metastasis.
