Comment: Renal cell carcinoma arise from proximal collectingtubule and are
bilateral in 10% of cases. 85% of lesions arehypervascular and require pre-op embolization.
Several types exist(papillary, alveolar, oncocytoma) TNM Staging: T1 Small tumor,kidney
not enlarged T2 Large tumor, contained within renal capsuleT3 Extension into perinephric
fat or renal vein T4 Invasion ofadjacent organs
Description: Sonography demonstrates a circumscribed hypoechoicmass of the
upper pole of the kidney. CT does not show any flow butPower Doppler reveals central
arterial flow within this lesionwhich surgery revealed to a well differenciated reanl
cellcarcinoma.
