Middle aged woman with an abdominal mass depending from mesosigma


Woman, 51 years old, with a personal history, 12 years before, of hysterectomy for uterine fibroleiomiomas and adenomioma. She was referred the hospital for gastrointestinal motility disorders. An abdominal mass was detected, in relationship with mesosigma.
Gross description: Partial colectomy specimen with abundant adipose tissue in appearance, in which the large intestine is 23 cm long. Mucosa was intact. Adjacent to colon, a tumor is identified, with well-defined edges, 17 x 11 cm in size, fleshy whitish coloration, with areas of hemorrhage and necrosis. The rest of the specimen is a yellow fabric, soft consistency, apparently fat.
